What States Pay The Best For Lawyers?

In the 2012 Best & Worst state rankings, lawyers in California received a median hourly rate of $150.00, while those in Delaware were paid only slightly more at $154.00.

As for salary growth since 2009, California’s lawyers have seen their salaries rise by 8%, compared to 2% nationally and 0% in South Carolina. On average, California attorneys enjoy a marginal increase in wages every year; however over the past few years pay raises have been less generous than they used to be. In fact the last three years saw significant decreases from previous highs which might explain why so many people are considering moving out-of-state for better opportunities or even relocating entirely to another state altogether!
