Best Novels For Lawyers?

I am not a lawyer, but I think lawyers love to read. Here are some my favorites.

The Firm by John Grisham (1999) Everyone loves it! If you haven’t read this one yet, you must what the heck is happening with Mitch McDeere? It starts out in small-town Mississippi and ends with an epidemic of crime in Florida; there isn’t much middle ground. This book was adapted for television in 2000 starring Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman & Sandra Bullock as the members of the firm defending McDeere against his ex-wife who has accused him of embezzlement and murder (he says he didn’t do it). The movie version begins in New Orleans with two young lawyers who were brought into the firm when their predecessor died during Hurricane Katrina; they now have to defend themselves against charges filed because their client committed suicide while under house arrest on drug charges. There are so many stories going on at all times that I could never follow them all closely enough to figure out how they would be resolved or even which ones mattered most if anything ever did get resolved between any characters involved…but none matter very much until near the end anyway! What happens before then? Did anyone really die? Is our justice system working properly? How about our criminal justice system? Any good lawyer worth her salt knows that these questions don’t really matter unless she can help solve them somehow – or try to prevent others
