In a word – Twitter. But you don’t have to be on Twitter, of course. In fact, I would recommend against it unless you are already active there and know what’s going on in the world of law (and that is not necessarily an easy thing to do). The reason why I like Twitter is that it allows me to connect with lawyers in my network who share similar interests (for example, talking about legal blogs or case notes). It also gives me an opportunity for self-promotion without having to email all these people individually or even visit their websites – although many lawyers’ websites now offer RSS feeds where they post updates when new content goes up. And finally, if you follow enough other lawyers on Twitter (or follow them yourself), then maybe some day your name will show up next to theirs in the “people following” box at the top of their profile page!
